Unparalleled Network Visibility
Take one look at NeuralStar's high-contrast interface and it becomes clear that it is like no network manager you’ve seen before. NeuralStar’s Composite Viewer provides the unparalleled visibility that makes Integrated Event Resolution such a powerful approach to network management.
The difference starts by integrating all management information into a single monitor, ending the “swivel chair management” that plagues so many network operations centers. The workspace is then divided into three primary areas, all customizable to your operational needs:

1. NeuralStar’s Network Navigator offers a familiar tree-like format for finding network resources, maps, filters, views, tools and more. All network-connected devices are included, regardless of technology or protocol. Click on any icon to open associated alerts, details, management screens, network representations or map drill down.

2. Heads Up Display provides an executive dashboard where users can collect the most important summary data in graphical form. These real-time, “at a glance” updates include multiple types of Alert Charts and Performance Gauges, including a wide variety of filters and metrics. Charts and Gauges can be created by central managers or by field operators to provide unique situational views.

| 3. The Control Center is a broad workspace for opening multiple windows with alert maps, details and other management information. Open an unlimited number of windows simultaneously to show different mission, business and situational diagrams, alert grids or alert detail. Use custom backgrounds for network diagrams, including ESRI Shape Files with latitude/longitude support, GPS driven localization and GeoTiff-based 3D map views. Drill downs include multiple user-defined levels and unlimited levels specified by your data model, all with hyperlink navigation.
Maps and other network topologies can be generated centrally based on the results of NeuralStar’s built-in Discovery Engine or created ad hoc by frontline administrators to show mission or situational relationships between network resources.
Other network monitoring and visibility features include:
- Monitor physical aspects of network elements (such as chassis, power supplies, cards and ports), virtual aspects (such as routing or switching fabrics, VPN assignments, logical ports and QoS contracts) as well as all network-connected processes, applications, databases, services, security systems, servers and desktops.
- In addition to issuing proactive requests for information, NeuralStar accepts unsolicited status messages and alarms from any network element or Element Management System (EMS) via SNMP trap, notifications, syslog or virtually any management protocol.
- Network maps can include multiple device categories and circuit types, such as port-level logical, node level logical, detail connectivity diagrams and site connectivity diagrams. They can be defined to integrate and highlight network, server, application and security data that has impact on particular services or missions.
- Map drill-downs include multiple user-defined levels and unlimited context-sensitive levels specified in your data model, all with hyperlink navigation between them.
- Easily create Filters based on fault classification, mission impact, business process or logistical status, then leverage them across alarm grids and fault charts. Create an unlimited number of Filter definitions employing any data field for alert segmentation.
- Performance data, network representations including NeuralStar’s patented DopplerVUE™ technology, similar to the popular Doppler maps used to show weather conditions. Real-time performance data is color-coded and superimposed over maps to show condition grades.
- Devices represented in Alert Charts can be grouped by type (e.g. routers, VoIP), by logical connection, by organization or by appearance in maps and filters.
- Search for network element information by alert across representations. View all Maps and Assets that include a given alerted device with a click.
- All device communication is archived for tracing, troubleshooting, replay and auditing. Relational and data warehouse information stores enable viewing, trending, analyzing and reporting on vast quantities of historical performance and alert data.
