Advanced Network Control

NeuralStar’s ability to execute bi-directional communications is its most sophisticated capability, bringing with it advanced control over network operations. Even if your organization isn’t yet prepared to begin automating your network management processes, the advanced control that come with these features is something that can be used right away to reduce down time, empower network operatrs and solve problems as quickly as possible.

In its basic application, Advanced Control in NeuralStar means that when a network administrator receives an alert—let’s say for a down router—he can immediately issue a command to ping that router or turn it off and on without having to move to a new terminal or application. If that doesn’t fix the problem, he can try other options from a menu created by your network engineers relating specifically to certain types of events or network conditions.

Go a little further and have your network engineers initiate periodic pro-active management programs that test for vulnerabilities in the systems and fix them before they turn into problems.

And if you’re ready to begin automating procedures, NeuralStar lets you start simple. Remember that downed router? You can have NeuralStar automatically turn the router on and off at the same time as it sends the operator alert, or even wait to see the result before sending the alert. Now, instead of a series of alerts about the router’s status, the operator receives one message that a problem was fixed. Or perhaps no alert at all, and the activity is simply recorded for future analysis and planning.

As competitive pressures grow and the consequences of downtime become increasingly severe, more and more organizations are beginning to implement these kinds of automated processes.

NeuralStar Advanced Control and Automation Features

  • Automate time consuming and error prone manual tasks by adding Workflow components to NeuralEvents.
  • Workflows can include sending multiple alerts as well as directly issuing device commands such as turning devices on and off and editing access control lists.
  • Managers can create predefined Workflows which operators can initiate on an ad hoc basis or as proactive menu choice to respond to real-time network conditions.
  • Automated actions can be grouped together and connected in chains based on pre-determined mission guidelines or business practices.
  • Actions can be triggered and managed through completion across multiple devices, back-office applications, alert stages, and so on.
  • Chain Workflows together to form increasingly more sophisticated automation routines such as Device Audits or Service Activation.
  • Workflows contain logic required for error detection and roll-back procedures.
  • Both mathematical and pattern matching correlation models ensure selection of appropriate Workflow resolutions.
  • Workflows can be integrated with other applications, such as order management or trouble ticketing systems for extended operational and management support.
  • Support for Policy-based Management includes a Package Deployment Wizard for easily distributing new rules and tasks, as well as Workflow-initiated network configurations based on security, alarm and threshold configurations.
